Christmas presents and cards are a lot of fun but we often end up spending a lot of money on things we don’t really need. This year Lundalogik has decided to give it to those in need instead of sending huge baskets of Christmas cards. This Christmas we are giving a Christmas gift to two projects in Africa that our employees are involved in.

Yatima Heart to Heart

In Iringa, Tanzania Yatima Heart to Heart operates three day care centers for orphans. There are approximately 120 children arriving daily. At the day care centers they’re given food and a safe place to stay. They play, laugh, fall and get a patch. At Yatima Heart to Heart, these young adults are given a chance to be children.

The day care centers give children a home-like environment to spend time in. They have animals to interact with and also their own biodynamic farm. This is a way for Yatima Heart to Heart to ensure the availability of food in an area where supplies are poor and expensive.

Hello Africa

St. Joseph’s Health Center is located about 10 km outside Korogwe in northeastern Tanzania. The business is run by an order of nuns (Usambara Sisters) and consists of a sick clinic, a childbirth ward and a care unit with 55 beds. The Sisters are nurses and lab technicians and are also able to perform some emergency surgery such as caesarean section. Unfortunately, the opportunities to make reliable diagnoses are very poor which results in antibiotic treatments even when not needed. This means that they run out of medicine quickly, and that the risk of antibiotic resistance is increasing.

“Hello Africa”  aims to improve diagnostic capabilities by collecting money to purchase lab equipment. This solves the problems with antibiotics and is also intended to serve as a self-help project, since the clinic will be able to charge other clinics in the region for helping them with blood sample analysis. This money can later on be reinvested in the business.
